Have you ever felt that you have put in the necessary effort and results are coming but not noticeable? I ran into that situation today. It is hard to describe today’s session. I sat down and had good periods of thoughtlessness but slipped into sleep a couple times. Sometimes, it is difficult to distinguish between thoughtlessness and sleep.
As I was out today and didn’t want to miss the session, I parked my car in a Target parking lot and meditated for 30 minutes. I remember reading guidelines about how long to meditate in each sitting from the book Genuine Happiness: Meditation as the Path to Fulfillment. Most optimal time is 22 minutes. I do not know if my mind is tricking itself or whether I am genuinely zoned out by the end of 25-26 minutes.
Technicalities aside, I can feel a lot of changes in my body. I am walking upright, confident and feel like I am developing a healthy self esteem.
Today’s tip : Keep up with the practice. Whole purpose of meditation is to be mindful and enjoy the ups and downs with equanimity. If you worry too much about reaching the goal, you cannot enjoy the journey. After all, Rome was not built in a day. Lay the bricks, be diligent with practice and trust that it will sort out.
